My Professional Path
If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I believe communication shapes the world. It’s how we understand each other, how we solve problems, and how we build relationships. People often say that knowledge is power—but to me, knowledge only becomes powerful when it’s shared. Without communication, ideas can’t move, grow, or inspire change. That’s why I’ve focused much of my education and energy on learning how to communicate effectively, thoughtfully, and with purpose.
My journey at Thompson Rivers University over the past four years has helped me grow not only as a student, but as a communicator and a person. I’ve had the chance to develop my skills through public speaking, academic writing, storytelling, and social media. I’ve learned how to take big or complicated ideas and make them easier to understand. Whether I’m writing a grant, speaking to a room full of people, or making a post on Instagram, I want people to feel like they’re being heard and included.
Along the way, I’ve been lucky to have great mentors, professors, and peers who have supported me. They’ve helped me see that communication isn’t just a skill—it’s a responsibility. It’s about listening as much as speaking, and being open to learning from others. Through group projects, student leadership, research roles, and creative work, I’ve seen how meaningful communication can bring people together and create space for new ideas to grow.
Now, as I reach the end of my program, it feels less like a finish line and more like a launch point. My journey doesn’t stop here. The field of communication is always changing, and I’m excited to keep exploring it—trying new things, taking on challenges, and continuing to improve. I want to keep using my voice to make a difference, whether that’s through writing, design, digital content, or one-on-one conversations.
Thanks for reading about me. I’m proud of how far my journey has brought me, and I’m even more excited for where it will take me next.
